For four hens we would advise the six foot run. The twelve foot run provides a vast space for a maximum of nine bantams.
The runs keep out the predators and keep in the chickens. The large door, shown in the picture to the left, provides easy access for you. Whilst the angle of the door means that it doesn’t have to be held open or shut, so if your children should forget to secure the door shut the chickens will still be very safe. You can also step inside the run, which makes changing food and water simple.
These runs use very thick 16g weld-mesh, a fox will not be able to get through it.
The timber is treated 38mm x 38mm and we finish it with a coat of Cuprinol cream paint or stain (depending on the colour of your coop), this ensures that it fits in with the coop.
The runs flat pack, as shown in the photo. They are very easy to put together and do not require any tools. They are held together with M8 coach bolts, wing nuts, and dowel joints. We use solid brass hinges for their strength and resistance to corrosion. This makes them the strongest runs on the market.
Our chicken runs have been designed to complement our hen houses. The chicken runs come in two sizes, 6 foot and 12 foot. Unlike most runs, their unique shape gives them a very large floor area for there length.
Due to the triangular shape of the runs, they cannot be flipped onto their side. Also they are too heavy for a fox or dog to move, but light enough for two people to be able to move.
The large door usually sits on the coop side of the run, this allows you to open and shut the coop door, let the chickens out into the garden, and feed them.
The chicken runs can also be extended in 6 foot sections, this is done by purchasing extension lengths and then simply adding them onto the end.
