Egg Collection - at the back of the coops there is a large drop-down door providing easy access for egg collection. This is a useful feature as it leaves both hands free for egg collecting. The floor also slides out here. The door is secured shut with two toggles.

Easy to Clean - We have carefully designed our coops to be as easy as possible to clean. The bedding can be changed without getting your hands dirty, or making a mess.

The floor is made from 12mm treated marine grade plywood which simply slides out of the back of the coop with all the bedding on it. It can then be scrubbed and pressure-washed as required.

The recycled plastic perches are easy to remove and they can be scrubbed and soaked without any deterioration. This will help prevent red-mites as they cannot live inside plastic.

The roof lifts off for the monthly clean, giving easy access to the whole coop. The cream roof reflects the sun, keeping the coop cool in the summer months.

The nesting boxes lift out for simple cleaning.

The side walls are painted on the inside - this is a very effective deterrent for mites, whilst making the surface easier to clean.

Ventilation - ventilation is vital to get the correct air circulation through the coop. This coop has larger ventilation holes than most coops, but the roof’s draught stoppers prevent draughts even in strong winds. This gives this coop excellent ventilation, and ensures that your chickens never

get wet.

Quality - our aim has always been to design and make hen houses of exceptional quality whilst maintaining a highly competitive price.

To achieve this we have combined the best aspects of CNC router technology with the attention to detail that you can only get with British Craftsmen.

Our coops are made entirely in England, partly by Computer Controlled Routers and partly by hand.

Materials - the coop is mostly constructed from 12mm marine grade plywood. The perches are made from British recycled plastic waste that would have otherwise gone to landfill in England.

The legs and roof supports are made from 50mm x 50mm timber. It is treated for exterior use, and has a low knot count.

Dimensions - this coop has an internal floor space of 680mm x 1105mm, making it ideal for six chickens or eight bantams. There are two removable plastic perches in each coop which stretch across the width of the coop. There are also two nesting boxes at the back of the coop.

The coop is 1220mm long and 870mm wide, which translates to four feet by two feet ten inches.

Finishes - we use Cuprinol™ Garden Shades and Heritage Shades. We paint our coops inside and out with three layers of paint. This reduces the risk of mites, makes it easier to clean, and prevents rot.

Cuprinol™ Paints give long lasting colour and weatherproof protection. The attractive colours have an opaque matt finish and allow the texture of the wood grain to show through. The colour have been selected to complement the natural colours of any garden.

The stained coop uses Cuprinol’s Chestnut Wood Stain. It is heavily absorbed into the wood, and the waxy finish repels moisture. The same finish is used on all of the floors for durability.

Security - the rear door is secured shut with two of our wooden toggles, and the front door has one toggle located high up at the top of the door.

If the coop is not in a secure environment, or if you don’t have a run attached you have the option of having a bolt on the front door for added peace of mind.

Fittings & Fixings - we use screws because they are stronger than nails and will last for longer. Coach bolts and wing-nuts are used to assemble the chicken coop - they are very strong and will not corrode. The coop can easily be constructed in under fifteen minutes. No tools are required!

The Environment - reduce, re-use, recycle!

This coop uses a quarter of the screws than in the Surrey, and less materials. This coop also uses less energy to produce. It has been designed to minimize waste.

The recycled plastic perches prevent 2kg of plastic from going to British landfill.

The packaging is reclaimed from bicycle boxes.
